Ted Robertson and Miss Mary Brennan, both of Ashland have been hired as teachers. The building is being thoroughly cleaned this week under the direction of Ted Robertson and Ed Langren of Ashland. Those assisting in the cleaning are Ed Walker, janitor and his assistant, Bill Walker and the following young people working under the NYA: Catherine Soulier, Norma Dennis,Myrtle Sharlow,Ann Conway,Lillian Crowe,Alec Wolfe and James Wilmer. With the new heating plant installed the building is in splended shape. Charles Denomie was taken to an Ashland hospital Friday,suffering with appendicitis. Mr and Mrs Duffy Cadotte have moved to Ashland. William Bell and Teddy Halfaday who are employed in Lac du Flambeau are spending the weekend with relatives here. Eddie Wesley and Wallace Mayotte who have been employed at Starr Lake CCC camp are visiting at their homes here. Lawrence Blanchard of Camp Mercer is spending the week end at home. Arvella Moore is visiting friends in Lac du Flambeau this week. Mrs John Thomas and children of L'Anse Michigan is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Frank Green. A car load of steel culverts for use on the new I E C W road was received here this week and was unloaded Saturday. A grader and caterpillar tractor also arrived on Saturday for use in the construction of this road. St Mary's Catholic church is receiving a cot of paint this week. Frank Green is putting a new shingle roof on his home. Doctor Chatman who has been employed as the examining pysician for the I E C W has resigned his position to enter private practice. He left for Chicago on Monday. John Rabideaux who is employed in carpenter work under the I E C W at Reserve came home Saturday to spend the week end with his famkily returning to Reserve on Monday. The Odanah baseball team played in Lac du Flambeau on Sunday losing the game, 5 to 4.Among those who accompanied the team to Lac du Flambeau were Esther Cadotte,Mr and Mrs Fred Chisholm,Frank Sky,Mr and Mrs Edward Rabideaux,Gust Connors,James Sharlow,Charles Ackly,Russel Moore and Raymond Moore. Mrs Hattie Roscoe of Washington D C is here visiting her parents,Mr and Mrs Joe Bell. Mr and Mrs Edward Smart and family accompanied by Mrs Ed Crowe,Harold and Joan Crowe spent the week end in Gordon visiting relatives.The Smart family came home Sunday afternoon but Mrs Crowe with Harold and Joan stayed for a longer visit. Alec Davidson has returned from Cass Lake Minnesota where he has been spending his vacation. William Bigboy made a trip to Hayward on Thursday taking John Shebiosh and Oliver La Goo to the government hospital for treatment. John Shebiosh fell in the barn at his home Wednesday evening, breaking his hip. He was taken to Hayward for hospital treatment. Unice Scott left this week for Pipestone Minnesota where she will be a student at the Indian school.
