Mr Hoard assumed his new duties the past week. He was here from 1910-12,when he was transferred to another place. Mrs Hoard and family are residing in the depot apartments. Word has been received here of the birth of a son to Mr and Mrs William Waggoner of Rhinelander August 29. Mrs Waggoner will be remembered here as the former Miss Gladys Lundberg who taught here four years. Mrs Oscar Anderson entertained at an informal party on Wednesday afternoon in honor of her daughter Lois' 11th birthday. Mr and Mrs Victor Warner and daughter Bonnie Belle of Kenton Ohio were house guests of Mr and Mrs Charles Warner and the Robert Warner's of Balsam Glen Farm during the past week. Mr Victor Warner is a nephew of Mr Chas. Warner and was employed here several years ago. Mrs Gena Skaugerul entertained Mrs Gemlo and children of Lake Willipyro,Mrs Earl Meirhofer,Mrs Herbert Gilbertson and Miss Frances Meirhofer at a coffee on Wednesday afternoon. The Drummond high and grade school has an unusually large attendance this year, and many out of town students are attending, among them,Grandview,Barnes,Port Wing,Trego are represented and Mason for the first time is sending students. William Anderson,Misses Esther Anderson and Mary Elaine Anderson were Washburn visitors recently. Mrs Ed Fye and daughters Dora and Fern were business callers inAshland on Friday. Mrs Reinhold Aush and son,Reynold and daugher Ruth of Fond du Lac were guests for several days during the past week at the Theordore Bruett home. They returned home on Friday. Mr and Mrs Felix La Rush and sons,Leonard,George and La Vern of St Paul spent the weekend and Labor day visiting friends and acquaintances here. The La Rush's are former residents. George Banks of Milwaukee was a guest fo his sister,Mrs Oscar Andersona dn family recently. Mrs Arthur Lee left on Friday for a few days visit with her sister at Milwaukee. Drummond students who have left for Superior to attend Superior Teachers college include,Alfred Fruechtl,Misses Marie and Laura Bruett,Fern Fye and Frances Meirhofer. Weekly talkies are now being given in the Drummond school gym and are very well attended.The shows are given Tuesday evenings. Mr and Mrs Herbert Gilbertson left on Friday for St Paul to visit relatives for a few days and also attend the Minnesota state fair. Mr and Mrs Frank Hahn of Ashland were guests at the F H Bartlett home last week.
