Mr and Mrs George K Fowler spent Sunday in the Twin cities. Miss Sylvia Anderson who is employed in Minneapolis spent the week end with her parents, Mr and Mrs Alf Anderson. Dr and Mrs C A Nelson and Dr and Mrs P L Satterlund attended a dental convention in Chippewa Falls, Wednesday. Dr M M Madden attended the state chiropractic convention at Green Bay from Tuesday until Thursday of this week. Mrs P J Lunch returned to her home in Amery Sunday after a three weeks visit with her parents in Avoca. Mrs Karl Reinke of Fairbault Minnesota arrived Wednesday for a few days stay at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Ernest Mekkleson. Mr and Mrs Noble Chance attended a bridal shower at balsam Lake Sunday in honor of Mrs E Larson, the former Frances Hoey. Mr Larson is in the army is stationed in Alaska. Mr and Mrs Carl Herzog have purchased the house formerly occupied by Mrs J O Anderson and have already moved into their new home and are remodeling it for their convenience. Miss Isadore Anderson who is employed at the Augsburg College in Minneapolis spent the week end with her parents, Mr and Mrs C W Anderosn on South Twin Lake. Mrs Adolph Hedlund returned Saturdy evening from St Paul where she had been visiting her father, Mr Frank Westerlund who si in very poor health. Edsel Grummons of Glenwood City and Margaret Johnson of Amery accompanied by Mr and Mrs Oscar Johnson and Vernon of Amery route 4,made a north shore trip in Sawyer county last week end. They visited Mr and Mrs Charles Krueger and Mr and Mrs Conrad Anderson and family of Hayward and Mr and Mrs Howard Zusall of Spring Brook. Laurence Hedlund who has been employed at the Northern Pump Co in Minneapolis for the past two years, arrived home for a two day visit with his parents, Mr and Mrs Adolph Hedlund. He was accompanied by Miss Ardis Larson, also of Minnepaolis. On Wednesday morning,Laurence left for Fort Snelling from where he will be sent to a camp in Texas as a memeber of the air corp. A school of instruction for American Legion Auxiliary officers was held at Shell Lake, Monday. Mesdames Herman Scholl,Rueben Christenson, Elmer Nelson, Leonard Grenz and Leslie Thompson attended from Amery. Mr and Mrs Ole Gabriel were pleasantly surprised Sunday when they returned from church to find a group of relatives in possession of their home. The occasion being their 15th wedding anniversary. Those who helped them celebrate on this occasion were Mr and Mrs Oscar Sylte,Amery route 4,Mr and Mrs Lester Fox,Clear Lake.Mr and Mrs James Joyce Minneapolis,Mr and Mrs John Beckon,Deronda, Mr and Mrs Fred Kraska and Mrs Gertrude Gabriel,Glenwood City. Mrs G Aronson and daughter Harriet spent Sunday at Glenwood city with relatives. Mrs E Heebink and Mrs C A Abrahamson and children spent Saturday at the George Jarchow home in New Richmond. Mrs E L Guanella left Thursday for Grantsburg where she is under doctor's care at the Grantsburg Community hospital. Mrs Melvin Framsted has been spending several days this week visiting her daughter, Mrs Alvin Haney and family who now live in St Paul. Mr and Mrs Richard Lindell and daughter, Karen of Green Bay visited at the home of Mrs Lindell's mother, Mrs Agnes Peterson last week. William Kelly went to Milwaukee to attend the funeral of his brother in law James Kavanaugh of that city. Mr Kelly returned to Amery Tuesday morning. Donald Thompson,son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Thompson left on Tuesday for Fort Snelling where he will receive the rating of Technical Corporal. Mrs Paul Kraska entertained the Birthday Club and Sewing Club at a farewell party in honor of Mrs Loza Godin last Wednesay. Each guest gave Mrs Godin a gift as a remembrance. Sunday guests at the home of Mr and Mrs Oscar Losness were Oscar's mother, Mrs O E Losness of Colfax and his brother and family, Mr and Mrs Edwin Losness of Wheeler. Mr and Mrs Leslie Route of Hot Springs, S D are guests of Mrs Route's mother, Mrs Agnes Peterson of South Amery. Leslie is awaiting induction into the army. Mr and Mrs C W Johnson returned Saturday from a trip to Chicago where they had attended a druggist convention.The Johnsons stopped over Friday and Saturday at Mondovi ito visit their parents before returning to Amery. The Altar Society of St Josephs Church held a farewell party fo Mrs Loza Godin at the home of Mrs William Thompson on Monday evening. Mrs Gunner Nelson and Miss Orpha Framsted accompanied Mrs Paul Kraska and Mrs Clara Read to Milwaukee,Tuesday, where they will visit Mrs Nelson's daughter, Mrs Charles LaForce who lives there. Mr and Mrs Richard Hillestad of Rock Rapids Iowa and Mrs C N Hillestad of Owatonna, Minnesota spent from Friday to Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Ed Hillestad and also at the home of Mrs J O Anderson. Mrs Minnie Griffin returned to Amery Monday after spending a week in Milwaukee at Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star and visiting at the home of her daughter in law Mrs Dora Griffin of Sheboygan. Mr and Mrs A C Christenson of Deronda and Vic Christenson of Amery went to Minneapolis to visit their father who is ill in a hospital there. Mrs Vic Christenson who has been visiting in Minneapolis for the past week will return with them. Mrs Virna Danielson, chairman of the Red Cross urges everyone to come to the Council Rooms each Tuesday and Thursday to help sew for the Red Cross during the hours of 2 to 5. Mrs Tom L Yates and daughter,Mary spent last week as guests of Mrs Yates' parents, Mr and Mrs John Jenson of Luck. While there, Mrs Yates and her parents motored to Antigo to visit Mrs Yates sister who live there. C A Abrahamson of New Brighton and Frank Bannister of Rosemount spent Sunday at their homes in Amery. Maesdames Leah Michael adn Elizabeth Heebink entertained two tables of bridge Friday night in honor of Miss Flo Peterson who leaves for Florida on Wednesday. Sgt. Ted Peterson,son of Mr and Mrs Alfred Peterson returned to his duties at Compton California after enjoying a ten day furlough at the home of his parents. Mr and Mrs Alex Carlson,Mrs Hjalmer Anderson,Roger and Delaine from Dawson Minnesota spent the week end at the home of Mr and Mrs Algot Knutson. Mr and Mrs Carl Lineberg of Minneapolis psent the weekend at the John Edman home. Mr and Mrs John Orendorff of St Paul spent Sunday at the Edman home. Mr and Mrs E B Remund visited friends and relatives in St Paul from Tuesday to Friday. They made the trip into the city with Miss Frances Preble who returned home the same day. Mrs Roscoe Starkey and Mrs Peder Pederson returned from Milwaukee Friday where they had been attending the Grand Chapter of the O E S Mrs Ralph Thompson,Mrs Matt Bonnes and Mrs William Thompson went to Hudson Wednesday where they attended the funeral of a relative. Delbert Jones and Howard Thompson who left Amery on the 23rd of September with a contingent of men to be inducted into the army have been assigned to the Ordnance Detachment of the Air Corp and are stationed West Palm Beach Florida. Mrs Paul Kraska accompanied by Mrs Clara Read left Tuesday for Milwaukee where Mrs Read will visit her daughter, Mrs Clayton Howard and family. From there they will go to Waukesha where Mrs Kraska will visit friends and relatives. Miss Orpha Fay took her mother, Mrs E M Fay and guests,Mrs J V Walsh fo Chicago and Mrs Wilbur Travis of Minneapolis to Solon Springs Sunday. Mrs Travis remained for a longer visit while the others returned home the same evening. Mrs Carrie Huston of Emmett, Idaho and Mrs Anna Tanner of Turle lake called on old acquaintances in Amery one day last week, namely,Mrs W W Winchester Sr and Dr W B Cornwall. Mrs Winchester had not seen Mrs Huston for 40 years. A combined birthday and farewell party in honor of Miss Flo Peterson was held at the home of her sister, Mrs Ford Bitney of Clayton on Saturday. Guests included Mrs May Kennedy,Mrs Leah Michael, Mr and Mrs Al Munoon of Reeve and Mr and Mr Kent Peterson of Amery. Mrs H E Booth returned Sunday from Spring Valley where she had been aiding her parents who were victims of the recent flood.The first floor of her parents home was covered by five and a half feet of water and much damage was done.
