A small alarm was sounded and the local fire crew put out the blaze before any further damages was done. Miss Doris Bowman will teach her second year the the Grettum school The Grettum concrete bridge was badly damaged by the floods. Clifford Peterson resigned his position as NYA director and will move to Superior where he will be employed. George E Miller, lime supervisor for Burnett county was at the county seat on business Tuesday. The Ministerial association met at the home of Rev W R Anderson on Monday evening. Rev John I Sainty left for his home at Eau Claire after the Easter services at the M E church Sunday morning. N C Unseth is again in charge of his store. He returned recently from St Paul where he received medical treatment. Theodore Anderson was a Twin Cities visitor this week. Osmer W Carey and Clarence Wedell will represent the local Scandinavian American fraternity lodge at the district meeting to be held at Eau Claire June 21. A ranger station is being built near the firetower here. It is a concrete structure 26 by 74 feet. James Devereau is in charge of the station. Work on the high school gym is progressing again after a delay on account of lack of materials. C J Fossum returned recently from a trip to South Dakota. Norman Thompson family were released from scarlet fever quarantine by the health officer Carey Jones. Mis Maria McKee has resumed her duties at Minneapolis after spending a ten day vaction at home. The committee on soil state program consists of Walter Anderson,John A Matye and John Hawkinson for the town of Arland. Mr and Mrs Durward Armstrong and family and Mrs Lucy Thomas left Saturday for a visit with relatives and friends at Red Granite. Mr and Mrs Durward Armstgrong were the first on the creek to open their Maple syrup camp. Emmet Johnson who has been a patient at Lakeside hospital at Rice Lake for the past five weeks has returned to his home. The community club of the Liberty school district held its regular meeting last Friday evening. The refreshments committee included Misses Hilda Bergstrom,Selma Miller and Mrs Gladys Ness. At the May meeting refreshments will be served by Mesdames Ingwold Severson,Martin Anderson and Carl Erickson. Mr and Mrs Nicky Popo of Turtle Lake are operating the John Hawkinson farm. The Martin Miller sons cut a maple tree in five cords of wood. Mrs Maggie Turner is recovering from an attack of quinsy. Mrs Carl Tuftin is convalescing from a sinus infection. Mss Lorene Christensen will spend a week at home here before returning to her studies at Superior State Teachers College.
