Death came to this young lady at St Barnabas hospital in Minneapolis where she was receiving care for a severe case of pneumonia. Her untimely passing came as a severe shock to her friends and relatives who had not realized the seriousness of her illness. She had been suffering from pleurisy for several days and this developed into pneumonia. Her mother was at her bedside when death came. Miss Skifstad is survived by her father and mother, Mr and Mrs Elias Skifstad,two sisters, Helen of Eau Claire and Mers Merlin Christopherson of Star Prairie route one. Five brothers,Myron of Eau Claire,Miles of Star Prairie,Harvey and Archie at home and Eldon. Mrs L C Hanson is under the doctor's care. Melvin Gaare who has been with a brother in St Louis since October where he was employed has returned home. Miss Virginia Nelson has returned to the Dority Creek school after being ill with scarlet fever. Master Arden Alexander was a guest of his grandparents last weekend. John Alexander spent last week end at home. He returned to his milk testing work in Section 10 district last Sunday. Mrs Lucy Thomas who cared for the Armstrong children during their mother's vacation has returned ot her home. Galen Ritter visited his parents, Mr and Mrs Niles Ritter Monday. Mrs Glenn Larson of Velva N D who came to attend the funeral of Mrs Charles Tyler, is a guest of her brother in law, Martin Larson. Bob Hessom was taken illSaturday with scarlet fever. The home is under quarantine. Clifford Jensen another scarlet fever patient has had a relapse and is very ill at his home. Mrs Harold Lindgren is substituting in the primary room at the local school during the two weeks enforced absence of Mrs Lynn Hesson. Reverend Gertsen was guest speaker at the Lutheran church Sunday evening subtituting for Reverend Thomsen who was ill. Mrs Chris Chistiansen died at her home last Sunday. Some of the neighbors gathered at the Bert Rand home Saturday for a wood bee and put up their winter's wood.Mr Rand who was injured in an automobile accident before Christmas is still confined to his bed. He and other members of the family have been ill with the flu. Reverend Christensen is quite ill at the home of Mrs Ida Nelson. Visitors Sunday were his daughter,Mrs B Utgard of Star Prairie,Mr and Mrs Stanley Utgard,Mr and Mrs Pulfers all of Star Prairie, and Mrs O H Caspers of Grantsburg and Margaret Caspers of Ashland. Five trucks and 10 boys from Riverside CCC camp were sent to Camp Sheridan from where they will be sent to the flood area to help relieve flood sufferers. Lieutenant Hoffman accompanied the boys. Among the 10 to go were Walter Newcomb and Ted Marquis. Mrs Ella Dicksenson of Superior and Miss Ruth McDill of Milwaukee visited their sister, Mrs Glen Thompson and attended the funeral of their cousin,George Miller last week. Beryl Cornelieson and Alice Darmer, local teachers, spent last week end at the Darmer home in Oakland. Rebecca Connor has left for Pine Ridge S D where she will teach the seventh grade. Elise Burford has left for Washington D C where she will be employed. Mrs Harry Howe has been appointed music instructor in the recreational program in Webster. She has classes in piano at her home during the week. Mr and Mrs Bert Rand received word last week of the death of their son,Brenton in Coorado.The body will be sent here for burial. Jack Babcok,Markville,Minnesota visited relatives here Sunday. Mr and Mrs Harry Marsh,Spooner, visited at the L R Krause and R E Burford homes last week. Charles Panser was badly injured when a freight train ran into his truck but he is improving at the Grantsburg hospital. Lucille Israels who attends Superior Teachers college spent last week end at her home. Mr and Mrs Andrew Knutsen and son, Theamon went to Ashland last week to visit their son Russel who has been very ill with pneumonia at the Ashland hospital.
