Jan...and anyone else reading this BB message... although there is no "conclusive" (documented) proof this is a conclusion (Joseph and Augustus being brothers) that I and another Adams researcher have come to independently! "Illinois Augustus" and his descendants have been the focus of my research for a number of years... I can easily add several (hundred!) direct descendent ADAMS (down to my mother) to you files, not to mention "co-lateral" lines. And you won't believe the history involved! Books have been written about some of the "adventures" of our ancestors...anyone connected to this ADAMS line (even if you THINK you're connected) is more than welcome to contact me privately at <[email protected]> I'd LOVE to exchange info and expand my database! Get ready for some fantastic history starting with the Black Hawk Wars to pioneer history, Civil War history (LOTS of family there) discovered family cemeteries in the middle of cornfields, to political power (an! d folly) in the 1920s, murder, mayhem and skeletons, skeletons, skeletons! Another problem you may have is that at the end of the Civil War, many children in AL and GA were taken from their families and send and sold in the North. Some Northern people maybe lost due to not knowing this and finding a person can become a big problem.
