Glen, I will send some of the names to see if we are on the same track. Solomon and Sarah Lassiter Whittington had five children, Elijah, Sarah, Axah, Kenion, and James. James and Mary Alsa (Alsey) Flowers Whittington had 12 children, Catherine, Marilda, Maragret, Marion Andrew, Mollie, Malcom, Caswell, Calvin, Axey, Mattie, and John Thomas. Hope this works. I have a Marion "Bud" Andrew Whittington (changed to Whittenton after the Civil War) as a g-grandfather. He moved from Pike County, Alabama just after the Civil War to Hamilton, Texas. He took a two Civil War widows with him, his mother-in-law, Mrs. Stephen Bullard and an aunt, Axah. They are buried in the cemetery that Marion Whittenton gave land. I have the line back to Solomon in VA. As I retired to a rather small town in rural Arkansas (Banana Republic), research is by computer only. I do know that there was a Whittington castle in England at one time and a Whittington was mayor of London. At a cemetery in Pike County, AL are many graves of Whittentons. It is at a Baptist Church, close to Hilliard's Cross Roads, where there is another of my Alabama kin. My Hilliard started a Methodist Church and cemetery there. Interesting about the sudden change in spelling at the end of the Civil War of Whittington to Whittenton as many were very active in the Southern Cause. I would like to spend some time in that area again. I ran down where one Lee was shot and killed in his own corn field by the Carpetbaggers as to get his land. His widow I must admire as she physically camped on the court house steps for over two weeks to make the "law enforcement" get after the killers. Sad, the Carpetbaggers had gone else where to steal. I can not offer help for anyone "tree climbing" in LA. For some reason records there were often burned by the Union Army that controlled LA for so long. And, I add a comment that I think the records were taken in French and transferred into some type of English. Good luck Glen.
