I have been on the Whittenton Mailing list and have had one response to my queries from a Dick Whittenton who has his research on ancestry.com It seems that there are two Richard Whittentons. The younger son born about 1760 Albemarle, VA and d. May 1821 Johnston Co. NC m. 1. Nancy Aft 2. Olive (10 children listed including Solomon). Then his father the elder Richard Whittenton b. 1739 (as per Eddie's e-mail) and married Mary Dortch (Nolen)? I have not done much research into the older Whittentons as of yet. I am of the Whittenton/Bullard Ancestry. Most of who are buried at the Whittenton Cemetery in Hamilton Texas. James Whittenton b. 1821, (son of Solomon), is my 3rd great Grandfather.
