I have just learned about this Whittington search place, so haven't seen prior messages. I have been up against a brick wall for 25 years on my grandmother, Minerva Whittington. On the 1870 Carroll Parish, Louisiana census she is listed with her husband Benjamin Harrison Childs. Her age was 14, so she must have been born about 1855-56, in Miss. according to this census. Her mother, Laura J. Whittington (second husband Mordica Nevels) was in the home when the census was taken. Minerva died on my father's first birthday Jan. 28, 1872, so she would have only been on two census records. I have not been able to locate her on the 1860 census with her parents, so don't know her father's name nor her mother's maiden name. If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much.
