Hello all, I live in the UK and I descend from Whittingtons of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. My maternal grandfather, Leslie Edward SOAL was the son of Edward SOAL and Fanny (formerly WHITTINGTON). Fanny was born 13 May 1866 at Lane End, Newland, GLO, daur. of Henry WHITTINGTON, a free miner, and Hannah (late MARTIN formerly BROWN) Henry was born in 1833 at West Dean, son of Henry WHITTINGTON, a free miner, and Jane (formerly WINTLE) Henry was baptised 13 Nov 1803 at English Bicknor, GLO, son of William WHITTINGTON, charcoal burner?, and Elizabeth (formerly PARRY) William was baptised 29 Nov 1762 at Englisk Bicknor, GLO, son of John WHITTINGTON and Elizabeth (formerly JONES) John was baptised 2 Aug 1711, English Bicknor, GLO, son of ?????????? We believe his parents were John WHITTINGTON and Jane REIGNOLDS but that'sjust a hunch ... I have information on other close branches of these in other parishes including some 19C emigrants to mines in the US. Anybody out there related to me? Cheers ...
