However, the children I have listed were born before this marriage. Who was he married to before Rebecca? or do I have the wrong Cornelius? The children are James b 1775, John W b 1777 (my line), Mary b 1781, Aaron b 1783, Winneford b 1784, Elam b. 1786, Moses b 1788, Sarah b 1791, Susannah b 1793 and Rebecca b 1795. The oldest two - James and John - were born in SC and the others born in GA. I know the line of children are correct but beginning to wonder if I have them attached to the wrong family Can anybody help me sort this family and determine who the mother of the children was? Cornelius and Rebecca were married in Virginia in 1774 before they began their trek that ended in Mississippi. The 1829 date is incorrect or may belong to another individual. According to the cemetery monument of Cornelius Whittington, they were married 11/23/1750 in Essex Co., VA.
