Hi Linda, Gee, it is so nice to hear from someone who is living in a warm country. You see ,I live in Ontario, Canada where at the moment we have lots of snow and it is as cold as" h." Now, are you a Whittington or are you married to a Whittington? Oh well, it doesn't make a differance. I only wish I could help you. Now my story is: my g-grandfather John William Whittington was born in Camberwell in the County of Surrey in ENGLAND. My grandfather was a son of this man . My grandfather (Ernest) and his family moved to Canada in 1912 , 2 weeks after the Titanic sank. Here in Ontario, Canada the Whittington family/clan flourished. The more you search for Whittingtons and the further you go back in time (with a name like this ) you are usually pulled back to the country of England.I can't believe how popular this name is in the world...not only in the Americas but in Australia ,New Zealand ,and South Africa. Just in England alone.(my Whittington roots came fromW. Sussex , then into the County of Surrey and finally by 1900 into the County of Kent. There are many W's around in these counties alone never mind travelling to your part of the world. So as you see... I can't imagine there is any connection unless you can trace your roots back to W. Sussex England. At this point in time a cousin of mine( who lives in Hove W.Sussex) and myself have documented data that will trace us back to 1648 in Wesborough Green, W.Sussex, ENGLAND Hey, I would love to find another cousin but who knows...Just keep looking and maybe it will be. Good luck in your future research and let's hope you find your John William Whitttington. Maybe Bonnie and Clyde really were Whitttingtons. Some of the Whittingtons I know ...you really had to watch!!!! he,he, he, he, it was nice talking to you. I've just subscribed to the list -- hello to all you cousins of some sort or other. I've gone a long way back (into the 1500s) on several maternal lines and am now beginning to work on the paternal side. Here's what little I know so far of my Whittingtons: WILLIAM B. WHITTINGTON, born in TN -- date unknown but estimating circa 1835 if one assumes he was about 25 when his son was born in 1860. Obviously this could be off by several years. His wife was NANCY KIDWELL (or perhaps TIDWELL), born in NC, date unknown. Marriage date and place unknown. The one child of whom I'm aware, GEORGE W. WHITTINGTON born 2/18/1860 in IL and died 4/10/1908 in Shenandoah, IA. His wife was LUCY ABERG born in 1/1860 in NJ and died after 6/8/1900 (date of census) in Creston, IA. George and Lucy were married about 1886, probably in Illinois though that is not certain. They had two children that I know of -- EVA R. WHITTINGTON born in 1/1887 (of whom I know nothing else) and my grandfather, LOUIS CLIFTON WHITTINGTON, born 11/17/1888. Louis was married to Mary Harding and died in Red Oak, IA in 6/1944. They had four children: William, Charles (my father), Margaret, and Jeanne. I am searching for the parents and siblings of William and Nancy and also for the siblings of George and the parents and siblings of Lucy. I'd be obliged if anyone can point me in the right direction. Sandy Whittington Douglasville, Georgia
