Another problem you may have is that at the end of the Civil War, many children in AL and GA were taken from their families and send and sold in the North. Some Northern people maybe lost due to not knowing this and finding a person can become a big problem. Am desparately seeking info on Augustus and family because I believe he is the brother of my Joseph Adams who married Amanda Ellen Moss in Jefferson County, MO. Joseph and Amanda named one of their sons Augustus and Augustus had a son whom he named Joseph. Augustus lived next door to Nancy Adams in Illinois. There is a long line of Augustus Adams in the same county in Illinois, so I don't think they all left the area. We haven't been able to find anything further on Joseph, so, since Augustus is a more distinctive name, I decided to follow that path instead. Assuming Augustus is Joseph's brother, he would be my 3x great uncle. The 1830 census records show: 1830 census, Augustus Adams is 20-30, his wife ? is 15-20 with 2 daughters under 5. Next door is Nancy Adams with 1 male 20-30, 2 females, 1 15-20, 1 50-60. Maybe 50-60 is Nancy ,with 2 kids, or maybe Joseph and Ellen. In LDS, his mother is shown as Nancy. Any ideas? I have also found a Mayer, with a California address, who posted info to LDS on Augustus and spouse Mary Whittington and someone in Hawaii. I have messages out to both. I'm assuming your interest in Augustus is because of some family relationship, which would make us related. But, regardless, I'd love to hear from you and would appreciate your sharing whatever information you have on the Adams family that might be relevant.

If I remember correctly, it should be a simple process. 1. Address your email to "[email protected]" 2. Do not put anything in the subject line. 3. Enter "unsubscribe" in the body of the message. 4. Send it This should work.
If I get one more response that your instructions will not get me off of your list I am going to scream. I have tried three times to unsubscribe using three different sets of instructions. Enough is enough. I don't care what you have to do at your end. I don't care if you are up all night. Just get me off this dammed list..........
My FAmily has always had Olive Stephenson as wife and mother of Richard's children. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! Messenger http://phonecard.yahoo.com/
I am getting my wife, the master of the copy machine, to make some copies for me tomorrow. I want to send you what I have from about 1700 (Richard), to the present. I will be sending you a mix of data and you can thin your hair looking at it. I need to make some copies of some pictures I found that you may not have gotten from me. That Blue Ridge School picture you sent me has been a plus to me. I stand firm from education and experience that the education system is very mis-managed. -- in Indiana, I was at a tech system. While there, I went up to Gary, IN and meet with some of the tech system people there. They were trying to form a union, for many good reasons. Example, no pay raise for some years, yet, the system could dismiss a campus president ($60,000 per year) - she went to St Louis and went to work for about the same money. Indiana Tech did not want to admit that they had let her go so, they keep sending her the Indiana pay check and she had about 3 years left on her contract. The screams for more money into the ed system only makes for more of the Pyramid System. Or, read Delbert in the paper. I haven't had a chance to do any follow up but the dates of birth sure do indicate Olive Stevenson is the mother of all the children listed. Olive ws b.ca 1768 and died 1814/19. Marilyn
Lovell, You sent a web site interestingly enough this person has the children of Richard II going to the 1st wife: Olive Stevenson. I have read other entries giving the children to the 2nd wife, Nancy. Have you ran across any references sited to prove who the mother of the Children is? My third great grandparents are supposed to be Beverly Whittington (b 1783, probably in Ashe County, NC) and Milbrey Ewing (born 1813 in Hancock County, IL). -- married 12/7/1834 in Hancock County, IL. Can anybody out there confirm this or point me further back on this Whittington line? Sandy Whittington Douglasville, Georgia
OK, here we go - First, I have good news for you. You have a cousin close by, she retired from teaching and is now helping in the library. I must look up her address. She comes from the Marion Whittenton line, out of Hamilton, Texas. She helped me many times; I could not find my Marion Whittenton listed in any record and came close to listing him as a wet-back until a lady in FL and the one in NM beat some facts into my head. I will e-mail you a long line of our Whittenton line. One big problem that a lot of people get into is that at the end of the War of Rebellion (Civil War to some), many Whittington people changed the spelling to Whittenton. I need to get into town, copy you a long Whittington data sheet that I got from the net some time ago. I went to the site last week and it has been changed, but look at http://users.moscow.com/dnorman/WHTNFAM.HTM. This data goes to Richard WHITTENTON b. ca 1700 and his wife, Mary DORTCH. Very good data - wish that the web master of this page had keep adding. Part of my line was there and I tried several times to get Marion Whittenton's line added. Now, the web master of this good page has shortened it. # 16. DOCTOR RUFFIN WHITTINGTON b. ca 1831, NC m. 28 Dec 1848, in Pike Co., AL, Lougenia Mary Williams, b. ca 1833 Children: William Thomas b 00 Aug 1853; Ursula b. 1858; Willis D b. 1855; Emma b. 1860; Henry b. 1863. I suggest that you write Marilyn the address is [email protected] If you have a map of AL. Look South of Troy to Hilliard's Crossroads. From here - go West and there is a cemetery there that has many Whittington people resting. You can get a lot of data from Marilyn. It will be a few days before I can get into town. We retired in the 'Banana Republic of Clinton' and there is really only one place in Batesville, AR to make copies, and that is Lyon College. If you do not get the data you want ..write me [email protected] At 10:45 AM 7/20/01 -0600, you wrote: >Hi. Does anyone have any later info. on Dr. Ruffin? I am interested >because of two names.
