    3. I have found Azel Whitney on the 1850 Census for Onomowoc, Waukesha Co., WI. He later shows up on the 1870 census in Petaluma, Sonoma, CA as Abiel Whitney. In 1880 he is in District 62, Paicines, San Benito, CA as Asabel Whitney. This is all the same person, his wife is Harriet Hatch. If anyone has any information on who this Whitney is I would greatly appreciate it. In 1850 he is in the household of my elusive John Whitney. If I find out who Asabel is, I will have a clue who my John is, I hope. Janet Whitney Duffield __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Then he appears in the 1840 Census of Ohio, Ashtabula Co., Saybrook Twp., p. 264. I noticed that Pierce has an Asahel WHITNEY of the right age. See <http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/extracts/pierce/p386-390.htm#P3092>. That would be Asahel-8 WHITNEY [John-7, Joshua-6, Thomas-5, William-4, William-3, Joshua-2, John-1], born 30 Aug 1809. On the other hand, Pierce's account of Joshua-6 and Hannah (GREEN) WHITNEY's family doesn't agree very well with that in this reference: <http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/extracts/newbing.html>. In particular, it doesn't give Joshua-6 a son named John. It's hard to know who is right, but if Pierce is, then you just might have the solution to your problem! I hope these clues can lead you to proof. Regards, Robert Mr. Robert L. Ward [email protected] http://www.whitneygen.org/home.html
