Does anyone on the list own the CDs for Alexander, ME and/or Vassalboro, ME Vital Records? Or have access to the VRs for these 2 towns? I am searching for the death records for 2 of my great grandmother's siblings. The parents were Henry Payson And Margaret Hall Bohanon Whitney. The 2 children are Henry Mason Whitney b. NOV 20, 1850 Alexander, ME. He died NOV 19, 1869. We are relatively certain of the death date as we have the silver "casket plaque" that was saved by the family. It gives the date but not the location of his death. He may have died in Vassalboro, ME or Boston,MA. It is possible he died elsewhere but chances are at the age of 20 and unmarried, he was still with his family and in 1869 they resided in one of those 2 places. It should be noted that his casket plaque uses the name "Harry M." so the death record may be listed in that way as well. Harry being the common nickname for Henry. Amelia Eliza Whitney b. MAR 3, 1856 Alexander, ME. We have no idea when she died. She does appear with the family in Alexander, ME in the 1860 census at the age of 4, although she does not appear with the family in 1870 census in Vassalboro, ME, when she would have been 14 years old. Additionally, my great grandmother was born in 1866 and she had told my mother that she had no recollection of her and did not know when she died. Since my grgrandmother was born in Boston, MA is 1866, it is possible that Amelia Eliza could have died in Alexander, ME before the move to Boston, or while the family resided in Boston. This family had the tradition of calling family members by names other than their given name, mostly using middle names, so Amelia may be listed somewhere as Eliza. I have searched Ancestry.com, and I have reviewed the Whitney extracts with no luck. If nobody owns these CDs, or the books from those towns, I will most likely be ordering them soon. But if someone owns them and can look this information up for me, then I will save my money and buy one of the others I need. Thanks for any help. Jo Hogle
