    3. Dear WRG, I am writing in hopes someone may reconize My Whitney family and possible connect to them. So I will post what I have :) I find it remarked that my George age 27; Appeared in the 1880 census in Auburn Maine as did Samuel age 43 (married Minerva) and Jesse C age 37 (married Paulina ). According to a site i saw Samuel and Jesse are brothers and sons of Asa and Rhonda ( Blaisdell). I believe my George connects to them some how . Giving the connection of the names of Whitney / Sturtevant and Blaisdell that reappeared. Thank you !     3. Hello Carol, I can offer no smoking gun evidence that your George is the one connected with the Asa Whitney family. However, I can add two pieces to the puzzle. First, Asa and Rhoda (Blaisdell) Whitney did have a son George. He appears in the family in the 1860 census for Mount Vernon, Kennebec Co., Maine. In addition, there is a third Sturtevant family connection. First, you say that Frank Whitney, son of Asa and Rhoda married Grace Sturtevant. Second, you say that your George W. Whitney married Lillian Claire Sturtevant. I can add the following information extracted from the Civil War Pension File of Jesse Cooledge Whitney: Paulina Whitney filed a widow's claim for Jessie's pension 4 February 1914. She lived at RR5, Auburn, Maine. She listed two sisters: S. Myra Sturtevant, 80 years old of Hebron, Oxford Co., Maine. Also, Abby H. Guild, age 83, of Farmington, Franklin Co., ME. Paulina was born 27 November 1844 in Temple, Franklin Co., Maine. She died July 8, 1921 in Auburn, Maine. So it would appear that Jessie's wife Paulina's sister Myra married a Sturtevant. I think if I was trying to solve this puzzle, I would try to track down this Whitney-Sturtevant connection. Just a thought.
