I was very interested to see the appearance of a Sumner Whitney in Maine. My grandmother had an uncle, Charles Sumner Whitney,(11/7/1855 - 1/25/1918) (From the Eskildson Family Bible, transcribed by M. Carolyn Peters) and a cousin, Sumner B. Whitney who was the son of same, and Mary Gardner Brown. I don't have dates for the son. They lived in Brooklyn NY or NY City, since my grandmother spend holidays in Brooklyn with them regularly as a child. Is there a connection between these two Sumners? It's an unusual name and I don't have any information regarding where it came from. Charles Sumner Whitney above was the 4th child of James Frothingham Whitney.
