Hello Ms Olson, I'm pleased to learn that you have acquired a copy of William Dwight Whitney's German English Dictionary. He was one of the leading linguists of the 19th century, who specialized in the study of Sanskrit, but also dealt with several European languages. He was the editor-in-chief for the 6 volume "Century Dictionary" (1889-91). His brother, Josiah Dwight Whitney was an equally eminent geologist who was instrumental in preserving the Yosemite Park area. Mt. Whitney is named for him. It is a great addition to our library! Also, it will help us when we translate many of the documents left in the manison from the original families. > > I found your site on the internet and found it facinating.
