My husband's great-grandfather was William Butler Whitney, born 08/31/1887 in Calais ME, died 07/05/1930 in Beaver City NE. I would like to know about his ancestors who were apparently Methodist (or other) ministers in Maine or MA. William married Samantha Belle Prime and had 2 daughters, thus no Whitney descendants. Mary

Samantha Belle PRIME The 1887 birth date you gave must be wrong, however, since Nelson and Dorothy were married in 1840 in Lowell, MA. Possibly it is a marriage date, or else there is a typographical error. The later generations lived at Thorndike, ME.
