Can you help identify this little boy? I found the following post on the Whitney board at Rootsweb.com. In the post, a photograph of little Dannie F. Whitney is included, and it appears that the owner of the photo would like to get it back to a family member. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=3Dmessage&r=3Drw&p=3Dsurnames.whitney&m=3D1176 Dannie F. Whitney needs to go "home" Author: Billie McNamara Date: 20 Mar 2005 6:49 AM GMT Are you looking for Dannie F. Whitney, born probably 1870-1885, who was either related to or a friend of Ethelyn Wallace -- who was possibly the daughter of Thomas and Martha Wallace of Carson City, Montcalm Co., Michigan (1880 Census)? If so, please contact me. I did a little research and posted the following reply: Re: Dannie F. Whitney needs to go "home" Author: Tim Doyle Date: 31 May 2005 1:57 PM GMT This appears to be Daniel F. Whitney, born about 1877, son of Daniel R., and Phebe A. Whitney. They were enumerated on the 1880 census in Johnstown, Barry Co., MI. Daniel R. was listed as age 36, born in Vermont. In 1870, Daniel R. Whitney was age 26 and with him was William R. Whitney, age 22, probably his younger brother. They were enumerated in Bedford, Calhoun Co., MI (though he is incorrectly indexed as Daniel C. Whitney at Ancestry.com). In 1850, I find Daniel R. Whitney, age 6, and William R. Whitney, age 2, youngest children of Norman K. and Mary R. Whitney, residing in Springfield, Windsor Co., VT. Norman K. Whitney was age 39 and born in Vermont. In 1840, I find Norman K. Whitney enumerated in Rutland, Rutland Co., VT. I have not yet linked Norman K. Whitney to the larger Whitney families, nor have I found current day relatives of Dannie F. Whitney, but I am still searching! Tim
