See http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/vitals/mass/littleton.html http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/vitals/mass/stow.html Her ancestry is still a mystery. My best *guess* is that she might have been an unrecorded daughter of Deacon Joshua-4 WHITNEY [Richard-3, Richard-2, John-1] and and his first wife Zerviah (?ROBBINS?) WHITNEY, who lived in Stow at the time. See http://www.whitneygen.org/families/johnw/john6g2.html#id228 There is a gap of ten years in the list of their recorded children into which your Anna would easily fit. Furthermore, her youngest son was named *Joshua* WHITCOMB. I see that Joshua-4 WHITNEY died in 1787 in Boxborough, MA, but did not leave a will, nor was his estate administered in Middlesex, Essex, or Worcester Counties, MA. Perhaps this clue will put you on the trail of proof. Good luck in your search! Regards, Robert Mr. Robert L. Ward [email protected] http://www.whitneygen.org/home.html

    3. Thanks to Robert Ward and Miles Fowler for the information they sent in reply to my question about Anne Whitney. I haven't been working on her side very long and it is laborious to me to search the record on the Whitney website -- bothers my eyes. Recently I located a copy of THE DESCENDANTS OF JOHN WHITNEY by Frederick Clifton Pierce. Since it is out of copyright there is at least one company selling photocopies. They also have it on CD. I'll check out the entry/entries concerning Deacon Joshua Whitney in detail. Certainly sounds like this my be the missing link I've been looking for. Carol
