My name is Lowell Whitney. I can trace my Whitney line back to my GG Grandad, Thomas L. Whitney. According to a notation in his wife's Bible, Thomas was born in Ohio in 1834, but there was no indication as to his parents or siblings. I've had my DNA analyzed thru 67 markers and it is listed under sample 76691 in the WRG site. I'm definitely a John/Elinor descendant. There was an exact match thru 37 markers but no exact matches thru 67. I thought this would help, but so far we have not found a family match-up. A notation in a US Census records (1860 I think) states that Thomas L.'s Dad was from NY. He married his wife, Elizabeth Jeffries, in Ill. in 1864 and they spent several decades in northern Missouri, then to Omaha where he died.
