Eli Whitney b.abt 1789 or 1796 --d.1867 (Pension Bureau record) , perhaps Conneticuit. Said to have been 57 years old in 1855. Eli was in the war of 1812--Capt. Wynkoop's Co., N.Y. Militia from Sept 6,1814 to Dec 13, 1814 2. Lived in Shandaken, Ulster Co., N.Y. near brother, Jacob 3. Married Catherine Longyear 4. Several children including Jacob b.1821, Eliza m. Joseph Setta ?, John, Phoebe m. Henry D. Knight, Hiram, Jane m. Hiram W. Miller, Giles, Sally Ann m. Cornelius Ostrander and William H. There must be descendants who may have more info as to the parents of Jacob and Eli Whitney. That is what many family members from Jacob have been seeking for years.
