Dear Friends: Using the CD's from SearchReSearch, which are photographic reproductions from the originally published MA Vital Records series that have INDEXES searchable electronically, I am looking at page 111 of the Westford Vital Records where I see: (under the heading TAYLOR) Isaac, s. of Eleazar and Sarah, Dec. 22, 1761 However, this is NOT the one who married Elizabeth Whitney, although my preliminary search found this man and the Isaac born in 1764 in Stow as possible candidates. Robert Ward found the family as shown in the quote below from his response to my question. **************************************** They seem to be the Isaac and Betsey Taylor who lived in Winchendon, MA, after marriage. Those VR show the births of many children, and their deaths. The ages of that couple are consistent with those of Elizabeth (Whitney) Taylor and the Isaac Taylor, son of Abel and Martha (Conant) Taylor who had been born in Stow, even though Isaac's death record calls him son of Isaac (not Abel) Taylor of Stow. Furthermore, they named a son Abel, and a daughter Lois W. (for Whitney? possibly named after Betsey's sister Lois Whitney who died at 23), and Abraham (named after Betsey's father Abraham Whitney), but no child named Martha, Eleazer, or Sarah. I conclude that the Winchendon death record is in error with regard to Isaac's father's given name, and that he was the one born in Stow. ************************************************************ I find this logic convincing, particularly in view of the practices of the time in naming children for parents and other family members. I hope that this clarifies the matter for all concerned. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
