Carol and Marion, Thank you both for checking the census for me. My problem is so many of my ancestors went by their middle names. My GGGrandmother was Elizabeth Jane Whitney but I find quite a few records of her going by Jane. She wa born about 1832 in Delaware Co NY. On her death record it says her father was Joseph. I've been looking for Joseph and some one suggested maybe his real name was Zachariah because the dates fit so now I'm chasing Zachariah Whitney.
