[This record was a return of Joseph Field, >D.D., who performed >the marriage] The marriage of her parents is recorded in Newton and Watertown, MA: Jonathan Whitney, Junr., of Watertown and Abigail Hammond of Newton, m. 14 Sep 1817. The fact that he was the younger of two Jonathan Whitney individuals living in Watertown leads me to believe that he was identical to Jonathan-8, son of Jonathan-7 and Lucy (Parks) Whitney, of Watertown [Jonathan-6, Joseph-5, Benjamin-4, Joseph-3, John-2, John-1]. That such a son existed is asserted by Pierce in his _The Descendants of John Whitney_ (1895), page 282, although he doesn't say anything about a marriage or children for him. Little is known about the fifteen children Pierce lists for Jonathan-7 and Lucy (Parks) Whitney. The births of his children do not appear to have been recorded, and I don't know whether a probate record exists for him. Jonathan-7 Whitney was apparently the Jonathan Whitney, aged 87, farmer, who died of old age in Conway, MA, on 22 Sep 1855. In short, I am not aware of any proof for this connection, but it seems likely. Perhaps with this clue information, you can find such proof. Good luck! Regards, Robert Mr. Robert L. Will add your answer to SUSAN ANN WHITNEY's notes section in my FTM and later to website. I am related to SUSAN's spouse through 3 different ancestors, but not to SUSAN.
