Hi there. Reference to your statement,"There is only on Whitney family in Jefferson Co., MS in 1820..." I have John Merrick Whitney, b.SC, Md. one Clarissa Montgomery 17 Oct. 1815, place unknown. I have Clarissa being born and died in Jefferson County. It looks like she may have been born, wed and died in Jefferson Co., MS., which would indicate that John Merrick Whitney was in Jefferson Co. before 1820. How does that look? - Robert C. Besides, the family in question are proved by DNA to be direct descendants of Henry-1 Whitney of Long Island and Connecticut, while John Merrick Whitney is a proven descendant of John-1 Whitney of Watertown. That eliminates him from consideration as an ancestor in this study. Regards, Robert Mr. Robert L. Ward http://wiki.whitneygen.org/wrg/index.php/User:Rlward
