After several years, I have now collected over 600 descendants of Ezra Leonard Whitney, of Livingston and Ontario Counties, NY, b. 1790 -1800, d. abt. 1849 in MI. Most recently I learned that his oldest son, John Whitney, b. abt 1828, married Jennet Wilder, the daughter, I believe, of either Luther or Nathan Wilder of Michigan and Genessee County, NY. I have many of their descendants, one of whom, Raymond Starr, was Att. General and Supreme Court Justice for the state of Michigan. Naturally, only a part of the descendants of this Ezra are surnamed Whitney, but I would like to post this database somewhere. I still have not discovered any siblings of this Ezra, and hope that someday I might. Also, I believe there are about two hundred more descendants to gather when I have the time. I have the file now in FTM 7. Where should I post this? Thanks, A. Whitney Brown.
Hello A Whitney Brown, This is probably a little presumptuous of me but here goes anyway. Have you been able to rule out the possibility that your Ezra Leonard WHITNEY was not the son of Joel WHITNEY and Sybil WHITMORE. These two were married 1790 in Conway, Mass and both died in Seneca Castle and are buried in the Crittenden Cemetery in Ontario County. They had a son named Ezra b. 14 Oct 1791. I show no death record for him. And no other information is available in Pierce's book. This Joel is on of the sons of our Capt Jonathan WHITNEY who migrated from Conway Mass to Ontario County. It is also this group of WHITNEY's who ventured on to the Hillsdale Michigan area. You've probably already beat this one with a stick. But just wanted to mention it in case..... Oh! double checking the exact text in Pierce, it says that Ezra, b. Oct 14, 1791; married but no children living. Lets see.... he would have been 104 at the time of publication. Probably didn't have any children after publication (tee hee) but HEY! Pierce has been know to be wrong!!!
