I thought I would drop a line to inform you what I found at the AL Park Cemetery. Your directions were excellent. My Dad and I went straight to the site. The cemetery was very well maintained with a new fence around the lot. However only a few graves were marked- recent ones. One row of the Parks family had metal plaques on the ground. But I believe this is most likely the right cemetery. There were just not enough Whitney interest to keep it marked! I hope to remedy that. I left a recorded message to Jerry Taylor that I was coming. On the next Sunday nite he called. We had a wonderful chat and he is very interested in the history of the Twistabout area. He knows some 90 year old brothers in the area -he offered to take me to visit them when I come back. I am curious about where you got the info. about the Whitneys in that cemetery. Was it from Clay county VRs? I met a second cousin on my visit also. Her grandfather was my great grandfather-Benjamin Eli Whitney. She shared some genealogy records with me on our common family. Her name is Irene Lefler from Dunbar. She had a copy of the Dawson Twistabout family book that is out of print. Some great info on Silas P. Whitney too. Once again- many thanks for your help. Sincerely yours, James E. It is best to go out Twistabout Road from the top of Dulles Creek Hill on State Route 4. Travel out this ridge and you will come to a fork in the road. The right hand fork goes down over the hill and thus on to Elk River Road. Don't take that fork. Stay on the left hand fork about a mile.... no more.... you will come to a gate across the road. This property belongs to a Jerry Taylor. He wouldn't mind folks visiting the cemetery but you may want to try to let him know you are coming..... you go through the gate, right out into his pasture field. Hope you get to come, Sarah _
