Dear Ed: Thank you for the update on DOROTHY OLIVE SOULE, a descendant of William OLIVE and Hannah-6 WHITNEY (Sylvanus-5, Eliasaph-4, Nathan-3, John-2, Henry-1). Phoenix in his "The Whitney Family of Connecticut" stops this line with Dorothy's grandfather, Arthur Neville Wetmore (or Westlake) Olive, in Vol. 2 p1676. Other information in the database was gathered from members of our Whitney Research Group http://www.whitneygen.org . Therefore, I have sent a copy of this message to the group so others can update their information. My notes on her father, Frank LeRoy Soule, state that he changed his name to CHASE when he was adopted by his uncle. Do you know whether Dorothy's brother, Frank Gordon Chase, also went by the name of Soule instead of Chase? Thanks again! Among those you have listed is DOROTHY OLIVE CHASE. This was of particular interest, as this was my aunt, married to my mother's elder brother. She used the maiden name of SOULE, rather than Chase, although I know that this was the bloodline name. Also, she was born at Lynn, Massachusetts, rather than in New Brunswick as you have listed. Following are the details on her and her husband: Dorothy Olive Soule, b. at Lynn, Mass., 5 Feb 1910; d. there, 3 June 1980 married at Lynn, 8 March 1935 Herbert Henry Strainge, b. at Revere, Mass., 5 March 1912; d. at Lynn, 10 June 1983, son of Herbert and Daisy Amelia (Bland) Strainge By coincidence I had lunch with their younger son this week and coffee with one of their grandsons. This message is being sent from my brother-in-law's e-mail account, but I can be reached directly through my own account at: Ed.Hanson@alumni.tufts.edu <
