Pierce is in error as to the parents of these brothers. They were actually sons of Joshua-4 WHITNEY (Joshua-3, Benjamin-2, John-1) and Phebe. I believe Joseph-5 was deceased by 30 Sep 1765, when his brothers and sisters signed receipts in the estate of their father, who died intestate. Benjamin-5 was then living in Uxbridge. Thanks Robert, I had nearly eliminated them from my list of possibilities, and that would just about do it.
