    2. WGR: I had never met any of these Whitneys. I thought they might be of interest to someone. They were both in the local paper on Wednesday. Barbara Black in Sacramento. Sacramento Bee (CA) Wednesday, September 20, 2000 < WHITNEY, GREGG Died September 15, 2000 in Orangevale, CA. Born in Stamford, Texas, on July 28, 1929, to Gregg E. and Margaret Symons Whitney. Gregg is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Sheila Whitney and Robin Cooley (Matt), son Bob (Mindy), grandsons Patrick, Kevin and John Cooley, brother Chris Sarns and sister Sue Fisher. A graduate of New Mexico Military Institute, Gregg attended the University of Texas until enlisting in the Air Force in January, 1951. He completed pilot training with Class 52-G and flew the F-86 Saber Jet while attached to the 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron in Korea. His career spanned 24 years until his retirement as a Lt. Col. at Beale AFB, CA. In 1973, he and his family settled in Orangevale where he raised quarter horses and restored classic automobiles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Fisher House (100 Bodin Circle, Travis AFB, CA, 94535) or Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church (11427 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA, 95628). A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M., Wednesday, September 20, at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church. PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (725-2109), directors.> <WHITNEY, ROBERT L. Born on January 14, 1914. Passed away on September 13, 2000. He was a minister of the gospel and a tailor in Sacramento for over 50 years. He leaves behind a loving sister of Oakland, Ca. and a host of nephews and nieces spanning over six generations and relatives through his union to Bessie Whitney. There were numerous friends, clients and religious associates who loved and respected Mr. Whitney. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2000 at Evangel Church of Deliverance, 3629 Del Paso Blvd. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at MT. VERNON MORTUARY, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. >
