Bruce, There are at least 17 different published Whitney crests, over a dozen coats of arms, and probably many more which I have not seen. It is a big subject .... ! As Robert pointed out, only certain descendents are formally allowed to display given bearings, so different family branches devised many variations which they temselves would register with the College of Arms. Bill Whitney of Essex, England has painted at least 8 different ones in watercolour, of which I have a photograph. I will try scanning it to a jpeg. Regards John
