Kimberly, You sent in part: > I am looking for more information on both of these people. My > grandfather was Frederick Elwood Whitney born September 7, 1915 in Muncie, > Indiana. His father was an Elwood Whitney and his mother's name was > Katherine Bruce. .... I am hoping I find more valuable information as well as > finding information that will lead me to the Elwood Whitney you submitted >to the Whitney website. I am hoping I have found my grandfather's family >line. I have Elwood's birth date as 21 Aug 1883 ( Marriage Application, Delaware Co., IN 1837-1893, Salt Lake City # 1266792) but I don't have a marriage record. Two of his children are listed in the Delaware Co., IN Birth Records 1882-1920 (SLC # 1266792): Frederick E. Sept 7, 1915 and William July 27, 1912. Next to William's name are Elwood and Catherine Brees (sic) as his parents. I have noticed with my people that names are misspelled quite often in these records. In these birth records is an unnamed child born on 21 Aug 1883 to Mordeca (sic) Whitney and Eliza Ann Orr, your great great grandparents. TaDa. From here you go straight back to John and Elinor. Elwood and Catherine-9; Mordecai and Eliza Ann-8; Thomas and Hannah-7; Phinehas and Elizabeth-6; Samuel and Abigail-5; William and Martha-4; Nathaniel and Sarah-3; John and Ruth-2; John and Elinor-1 >I would like to know the date of your Elwood Whitney's death > and what happened to his wife. . He died sometime around 1920. I couldn't find anything in my records about his death. The Delaware Co., IN Death Records (Salt Lake City LDS Lib microfilm # 1266792) cover 1882-1920. I assume then that he died after 1920 if he died in Delaware Co. Mordecai is the older brother to my line through Lafayette and Mary (Snider) Whitney. Welcome to this huge Whitney family! Hope this shed some light for you. Sandy
