Dear WRG: In Phoenix, Vol 1 p385, we find another instance where descendants of the 2 major Whitney ancestors (Henry of L.I. & N.Y., and John of Watertown) married. Individual #1841: Eliza Ann BLACKMOND, b. in Wilton, Conn., 13 Oct. 1815; married, 5 May 1837, at Castile, N.Y., Hiram Doty COBB, a physician, son of Joshua Whitney and Susan (DOTY) COBB, and g. son of Elijah William and Sally (WHITNEY) COBB, of the Mass. Whitney family. She died of consumption 4 Nov. 1871, at Wells, Minnesota, and was buried there, leaving the reputation of "an earnest Christian, an excellent wife, and a devoted mother." He married (2d) at Wells, Mrs. Sarah Ann GOODRICH, and was living there in Jan. 1875. According to Phoenix, she was: Eliza Ann-7 Blackmond [Clarissa-6 Whitney, Ebenezer-5, David-4, Joseph-3, John-2, Henry-1] And in my John & Elinor database, I find that he was: Hiram Doty-8 Cobb [Joseph Whitney-7 Cobb, Sarah-6 Whitney, Asa-5, Joshua-4, William-3, Joshua-2, John-1] Their children and grandchildren can be found in Phoenix Vol 2, p1004-5 and Vol 3, p1907, respectively.
