    3. WRG: I would like to thank the person who posted the extract from the book Marion Thomas Whitney on the web page. I now have a huge headache. I will describe the headache, and maybe one of you wiser heads can provide some aspirin. On page 7 of the posted Marion Thomas Whitney book we find Thomas Whitney, born Sept. 10, 1799 in Phillips, Maine. 14 June, 1727, he marries Lydia Tufts in Warren Co., Ohio. Thomas dies in Burns, Henry Co., Illinois 5 August 1865. The book says that this Thomas is the son of Joseph Whitney of Lisbon, Maine and his wife Rebecca Stinchfield. Now, switch to th D.A.R. Lineage Books, also found on the web site. In Part 7, Vol. 69, pg 194, we find the submission for #68531 Mrs. Clara Noble Marble. She is the granddaughter of Thomas S. Whitney (1799-1884) and Thankful Blethen (1794-1864), m. 1819. I have pulled that submission at the DAR in Washington, D.C. It says that this Thomas, who married Thankful Blethen, was born 10 Sept. 1799 (same date as Thomas above). Now, switch to the Raymond, Maine Vital Records, also found on the web site. There you will find a number of children born to Thomas and Thankful, along with the deaths of both Thomas and Thankful in Raymond, Maine. Now, I will tell you that Thankful Blethen was the daughter of Increase Blethen and Isabella Whitney. Isabella was the daughter of Benjamin and Mercy Hinkley Whitney, and the sister of the Joseph Whitney who married Rebecca Stinchfied and went from Lisbon, Maine to Phillips, Maine. This is the cause of my headache. How can we have two Thomas Whitneys born on the exact same date in Maine with two different marriages, and both Thomases are from the same lineage? Can anyone provide some aspirin? Ken Whitney Silver Spring, MD
