Line: John (1), Thomas (2), Isaiah (3), John (4), Ezra (5) Moses (6). Moses b. abt. 1765 where?__________. married 1st/...who?___________. married where?____________. Where did Moses die?______ and where is he buried?_________ Where is his 1st/ wife buried?________ also his 2nd/ wife?_______. Did he have other children? ___________ Did he go to New York where his father and brother went? ______. Information I have is that he went from Rockingham to Athens in 1813 and recorded the birth of 4 children and answered the question of parents, this way. MOSES WHITNEY. Listed children as follows: 1. Roxanna (Rona)...b. 26 July 1804 2. Esther...b. 20 Aug 1808 3. Eustice / Erasti ??? Writting was very unclear only guessing...b. 22 Sept. 1810 4. Mary ...b. 11 August 1813 What became of the first three children?______. (we know what happened to Mary, the baby, as you will see) None of the children by his first wife were listed in the Warning Out. These births were recorded at Athens, Windham Co., Vermont. The mother of these children must have died in childbirth or soon there after as : Moses married second: at Brookline, Vt. Abigail Simonds..res. Westminister, Vt. Moses Whitney...res. Brookline, Vt. married: 08 May 1814 Whitney: Warnlng Out: Vermont Westminister......01 Jan. 1816 Moses and Abigail, ("said to be his wife, or otherwise, Abigail Simonds..with her daughter Sophronia") Because of this, I feel that Abigail was a widow with a daughter when Moses married her. Abigail ( ) Simonds Now at this point the children by his first wife were very young. Mary at. 8 months, and the others about 3yrs., 5yrs.,and 9yrs. of age. More information: Mary Whitney...she married Calvin Powers...23 Sept 1832. Calvin was the son of Stephen Powers and Sarah Perham. They had 3 children as follows: 1. Anna b. 1806, 2. Roswell b. 1808 3. Calvin b. 1810 ..July Stephen (the father) is suppose to have died in an accident before Calvin's birth. Nathaniel Powers in writting some of the History of the Powers family had this to say about Calvin. I quote "Calvin Powers married a man's daughter that I knew well when a boy, a girl Aunt Sarah brought up from infancy". (wich would have been Mary Whitney, dau. of Moses Whitney) Nathaniel Powers' father and Stephen were brothers. So as you see Sarah (Perham) Powers wife of Stephen Powers and the mother of Calvin Powers who became the husband of Mary Whitney daughter of Moses Whitney,....brought Mary up nearly from birth. What was the connection???????? If we knew it might be a clue as to who Moses Whitney's first wife was. Calvin Powers by the way was my husband's great-grandfather. Will be ever so grateful for any answers that anyone is able to help me find. Thank You. GramyG@aol.com
