    3. Dear Mark: Thank you for the kind offer. It was very thoughtful of you to write to me about your discovery! I am not a direct descendant of Henry Austin Whitney and Fanny Lawrence, but I'm sure I can locate someone who might be interested in what could be a family treasure. I'll send a copy of this message to the Whitney Research Group, where one of his relatives might see it. You should receive at least one response. If not, write to me again and I'll make more inquiries. If I have read your family tree correctly she was the wife of Henry Austin Whitley who died 21 Jan 1889. In any case the reason for contacting you is that we live in Australia and have come across a book of collected poems which have been handwritten in ink into a small book by Fanny Lawrence (dated 1863) in Groton Mass. The book also includes loose newspaper cuttings of poems and what appears to be an attractive recipe written on a seperate sheet of paper for Molasses Gingerbread. Thought I might contact you to see if anyone in your genealogical tree would be interested in a copy of the book and I would be happy to photocopy and send to you. Regards, Mark Peasley
