Hello Esther, If the Westminster Abner is not yours, then one possibility for not being able to find him in the census is that he was living in a household of which he was not the head. He therefore would not have been enumerated by name. The information I have on Samuel came from DAR membership application #96355, which said he was born and died in Falmouth. I have not seen his pension application, but I believe that is the authority in this case. Abner's date and place of death are from DAR application #28701, and Sarah's from FC Pierce. Being secondary information, it is less that totally reliable, but may give an indication of where the answer lies. Unfortunately that means Falmouth, where primary information is scant for early records. Good luck in your search.
