Without pertinent information on the individuals involved, I can only surmise, but I feel certain that they were white officers in charge of colored enlisted men. It was the practice of the army to use white men to lead the colored troops at least until the second world war. The fine movie, "Glory" depicts the first use of colored troops by the Federal army during the Civil War. Mike Poston Rockville, Maryland ----- Original Message ----- From: "W.
