    2. Dear Abrisee: Thank you for your effort to keep this Whitney item "in the Family." Would it be possible to also send a transcription of the genealogical material to the Whitney Research Group for inclusion on our web site? If so, it should probably go to Robert Ward or Tim Doyle, so as to ensure that it is put in the proper place in the Wiki web site. Thank You. Allan E. 3. Allan - Anything in my library that is Whitney related can be sent to the WRG, transcription, scan, what have you (with in copyright laws of course). My card catalog isn't complete yet, but what i have listed so far is at www.briseelibrary.com if you want to take a look. Bidding on the Bible and winning are two seperate items of course. 1. [WHITNEY] Whitney Diaries for Sale 1907 & 1912 with Two Photos
    2. j.conti
    3. Hi....I have two diaries I am interested in selling. Please read my description below and then Robert's research results following my email. I hope to have a link to a photo of the Whitney Quartet soon. The owner of two diaries; Laird & Lee's Diary and Time-Saver, Registered U.S.PAT.OFF. The years are 1907 and 1912. The owner is YALE B WHITNEY, Born Jan 22, 1884. He is the son of Rev. Edwin James Whitney. Edwin was the son of Alvin Whitney, born in 1803, and his wife Betsy Cook. Edwin at age 27 yrs. received into the Genessee Conference of the M.E. Church as a probationer in the Traveling Connection as Preacher, First Circuit 1874. I believe Yale may have also been a Preacher or some kind of political figure. His two diaries document that he traveled daily to cities around the U.S. to welcome hundreds of people at a time. He was also in town fairs. In the front of 1912 Diary are two photos. One of a child and another of a woman. His address was 183 Vassar St, Rochester, NY. His weight was 175 lbs.; 5'11 1/2" tall, light commplexion and age 28 years old in 1912. There is allot of writing and travel locations indicated in these journals as well as Cash Account information e.g., Received and Paid. I am interested in selling these two diaries. Can you recommend someone I can contact? I purchased these diaries in 1984 in Monterey, County in California. Regards, Jan Conti .......................................Response from Robert (Researcher).................. I found out that Yale B. Whitney was one of four Whitney brothers who formed the Whitney Brothers Quartet, a barbershop quartet. The others were Alvin M., Edwin M., and William F. Whitney. See . Those are the names of his three older brothers. No doubt his touring and his financial transactions were part of that activity. He died in Carmel, CA, in May 1977. Possibly one could find an obituary for him which would give more information. See also , which mentions him. Thanks for sending your e-mail to the Whitney-L mailing list. I would not have been aware of the Whitney Brothers Quartet otherwise, and I find it very interesting. I am sitting here listening to one of their recordings made on wax cylinders and digitized by the UC Santa Barbara Library. See . Cool! You can find more by Googling "Whitney Brothers Quartet". By doing this, I found a picture of the four of them together and separately at . Regards, Robert -------------------------- Please let me know if anyone is interested in these two diaries or if I should contact another person or organization. Thank you! 3. Patricia, Thank you for your 'thank you' note. It is good when those of you who know your origins join the Whitney DNA Project, for then we 'unconnected Whitneys' are better able to find the probable place in the Tree from which we broke off. (It is not that we 'were broken off,' we just wandered away -- like lost sheep, as it were -- and lost our knowledge of our place of connection.) I have jovially said to one genetic cousine that we should write 'story," maybe even a book, entitled "The Lost Tribes of Thomas Whitney." There are several of us who are likely descendants of Thomas_2 who are looking for our place of disconnection. Again, thank you for taking the time to write. I was however wondering how the book came in your possession and how you might be related. I have a variety of names I've been collecting and hoping to find links. When I do finally connect the pieces,, it's going to be rewarding. Even from your letter/announcement about the album, I added a couple more bits of information. I managed to find a picture of Emma (Immen) with Stephen taken about 1905, about 6 years before her death. She was quite a pretty lady. I'd love to share that with you, but I don't think I can include an imbedded image or an attachment with email I share with the Whitney group (but I'll try). My mother has told me stories over the years that she (Emma) had pernicious anemia and was probably the cause of her death. Having 7 children to produce a male heir, could not have been easy for her. Stephen went on to live out the rest of his life at the farm he shared with his wife. He lived into his 90s and he never remarried. Thank you for writing back to me. Sincerely, Aimee ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    2. Dear Darral Lawson, I would be very interested in this photo album!! Stephen Whitney, who married Emma Sophia Immen are my great grandparents. (Emma and Stephen had 5 daughter and 2 sons, one who died young.) (John H., Stephen, John F., Isaac, Jason, Mark, Benjamin, John) Their last child and only surviving son, Maj. John H. Whitney b. Oct 13, 1893, was my grandfather. I have a copy of his birth certificate. John H. Whitney married Ruth Marie Cole in Romeo, MI on May 12, 1922. They had two daughters, one of which was my mother. (The direct Y male marker stopped with the birth of my mother and aunt!) This news could not have come at a better time as I just lost my mother, Eleanor L. Whitney this past October and have been very lonely for her. (I know she would have been excited to hear this.) Before my mother died she gave me some pottery that belonged to Emma (Immen) and Stephen Whitney that had been on their farm in Macomb. I would be forever grateful and honored if you would entrust these precious photos to me. I am very excited about this....... I would digitalize them and share them with anyone else who would be interested in the future. I also have 5 children of my own. PLEASE let me know what I can do. I have a variety of artifacts and news articles to show my lineage. Best Regards, Aimee W.
