Tom, Joshua White (b. Chester Co., SC), my gt grandfather, was the son of Thomas White (d. 1831, Chester Co., SC). Thomas was the son of Hugh White (d. Chester Co., SC, 1801). Hugh was the son of Thomas White (d. 1778, Lancaster Co., PA). Hugh and his son, Thomas, were millers on Fishing Creek, Chester Co., and in 1844 Thomas' family sold the mills and moved to Benton Co., AL. Hope this helps. Paul R. White [email protected]
Dear Santa, For Christmas, I would like to find my White ancestors. I am looking for a White family that may have come form Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina or who knows where. By the 1760s, this family was living in the land that became Tennessee. The given names for males in this family are John, Thadeus, Samuel and perhaps Willis, although I think the name Willis Chandler comes from a female line that married into the White family. If you know of someone researching a White family in which these given names were commonly used, or of someone researching a White family that were early settlers of Tennessee, please put their name and address in my Christmas stocking, so we can correspond. Thank, Marleen
