re: the White surname. A genealogist who wrote me in response to my query said her husband, being Danish, said that White in Danish would be Hvit or Hviit. My ancestor was a sea captain White. Unfortunately i do not know his first name yet or parents or the name of or place where his ship wrecked. He stayed and met and married in Maine where the family stayed. I don't even know what year and have had no success in finding it out. Any help would be appreciated. Virginia Holt Ferrante.
