Hello, I only go back to my 5th or 6th great grandfather, Colonel Henry White, who migrated from Orange Co., Va. to the Spartanburg area of South Carolina in the mid 1700s. I am not sure who his parents were or from whence their family came from in Britain. I wish I knew. I am a descendant of Walter R White of England, son of George. Walter was the only child that came to America and stayed. I have heard that one of George's sister or brother or their children had went to Australia, but I am unsure which one. I would be glad to hear if anyone has any information on this family. GEORGE1 WHITE was born Abt. 1832 in Rayleigh, Essex, England. He married JANE UNKNOWN. She was born Abt. 1834 in Rayleigh, Essex, England. Children of GEORGE WHITE and JANE UNKNOWN are: i. Walter R2 White, b. December 31, 1851, Rayleigh, Essex Co., England; d. February 25, 1931, Clinton Co., Ohio; m. Nancy Harris Armstrong, August 28, 1873, Cincinnati, Ohio; b. February 20, 1847, Clinton Co., Ohio; d. October 03, 1912, Clinton Co., Ohio. Notes for Walter R White: Walter was a Baker by profession. The story was told that Walter would catch a train from Clinton County to Cincinnati every Monday to go to Cincinnati, Ohio to work for the week. Then he would ride the train home on Friday to his wife and children. **************************************************************************** *********** His granddaughter Mary Elizabeth (White) and grandson Alton Huffman paid to have a head stone set at both Walter, Nancy, Perry and Fredrick's grave site. **************************************************************************** *********** Information provided by a living family mother: Walter R. White came to the USA and settled in Cincinnati about 1872 at the age of 21. Worked as a chef in a hotel there. His sister said he had blue eyes and curly hair. This history was taken from letters from his sisters and nieces in England. Blanche his youngest sister wasn't born when he left home at the age of 20 or younger. Alice another sister, born February 22, 1860 corresponded with her nephew, George Albert White (son of Walter R.) during World War II and also with Walter H White (son of George Arthur and Nannie (Haines) White). From these letters, post cards, family bibles, etc., we think that Walter R White had 3 brothers and 3 sisters -- Herbert, Arthur, Fred, Alice, Ella and Blanche. Also that the fathers name of these 7 children was George White. In a letter from Auntie Alice to Walter H White; March 11, 1946, Alice sent a picture post card of a street in the "The Village Prittlewell" showing the church in the distance and their family home was: "Just in front of that dear old church. My bedroom window locked down on that Belfrey door and the lovely peel of Bells could be heard for miles around. A very historical and noted old church and my father lived there till all his son's had gone except my brother Fred (who has now passed away) and he grew to old to manage a business: George White, your fathers grandfather. She also said, "Now our Trixie and Eric have bought a house near there and Southend called Whitecroft." On the back of this postcard was a post mark of Southend-on-Sea (1904). The card was from Winnie to her mother, Alice (Mrs. Thomas W. Maling). Other postcards were of "The Beach and Cliffwalk" at Nevin N>W>.. of "South Green, Southward" (on the East Coast.) It was a picture of houses...Another one was of Shrubbery and Cliff Walk, Southend-on-Sea."
