He was born in Virginia and was "26 years old" according to 1850 census (meaning: he was born 1823/24 and died young and intestate in about 1865 in Waterloo, Fauquier Co. Background information on William Toliver Turner: 1. William lived "next door" to the house of Mrs. Eliza Letitia Steptoe [Clarkson] Marshall, paternal granddaughter of Dorcas Turner (source: 1850 and 1860 census). 2. William's daughter, Martha Jane Turner, was born at Mrs. Eliza Marshall's home on May 10, 1860 (source: birth certificate from Fauquier County's courthouse). 3. Mrs. Eliza Marshall's grandson, Jacquelin Ambler Marshall, was married to his distant cousin, Eliza Randolph Turner, daughter of Edward Carter Turner of the Plains, Fauquier Co. VA. (source: Marshall genealogy website). 4. William and Martha Jane White also of Fauquier Co. went to Warren Co. VA to get married on March 16, 1846. The person signing the marriage license was Robert Turner (source: marriage certificate from Warren Co.VA.). Martha Jane White was daughter of John Y. White of Fauquier Co. and Lucy Feagans of both Warren Co. and Fauquier Co. 5. "Known" children of William (source: 1850 & 1860 census): i. John W. Turner, bc. 1847. ii.
