David, I am very interested in knowing more about your Col. Henry White of SC. Do you know who his father was? Where in VA did your Col. Henry White come from? Can I get a picture of him in his uniform? I have an ancestor named Henry White who married Mary Sthreshley Starke. My Henry White was born in Virginia on April 20, 1778 and died in Elbert Co., GA on Sept. 16, 1842. He was the son Thomas White and Sarah Shelton of Orange and Albemarle Counties in VA. My Henry White lived on Vann's Creek on the GA side of the Savannah River. I have found him in SC records in the Old 96 District and Pendleton District. I haven't seen many "Henry White" men in early 1800's records, so I'm curious to know more about your Henry White and who his parents were and which White line he came from in Virginia; John White of Orange County or Stephen White of Caroline and Hanover County. Henry White: Rev. War, Whites in S.C. to Texas?? Hello, My 6th great grandfather was Col. Henry White of Spartanburg, S.C.. I have a file I have put together on my White line from that area, and I have an old pen and ink drawing of him in uniform that is an aged, old ornately carved wooden frame. I had some copies made of it too. I also have a little info on Col. White, but not much. If anyone has any info on Col. White it would be greatly appreciated. His great grandson was John Warren White, the son of Hiram White. J.W. White fought in The War for Southern Independence and along with three of his five brothers died in the war. I have a glass plate type pic of a C.S. officer in what appears to be the uniform of the Palmetto Sharpshooters, the unit the White brothers mostly served in. I wish I could know for sure who the pic was. After the war John Warren White's widow remarried a Mr. James Henry Calvert and they and some friends and relatives migrated to Cooke Co, Texas, the oldest son, Edward Walker White, the brother of my great grandfather Rev. Wm. Henry White, settled in Amarillo, opening a store there with his wife's brothers, the Kirks. The store was White and Kirk Drygoods or something like that. Edward was also in the mining business. I am also interested in meeting and corresponding with his descendents. I also have pics of him, his wife, Leota Alice Kirk, and their children, Dean White and a daughter I think. Take care, David Middleton Edelen II ______________________________
