    1. Re: [WHITE] Picture of your WHITES
    2. David Middleton Edelen II
    3. Hey Rusty, My Whites came to Vir from England and then to S.C. to the Spartanburg area. but before and after the Civil War many Whites moved west to various states, including Texas. After the Civil War my g.g.grandmother remarried a Mr. Calvert (my g.g.grandfather dying in the war) and they and some friends and family migrated to Cooke Co, Texas. One of her sons, Edward Walker White moved to Amarillo and started a store with his brothers-n-law, called "White and Kirk" Wholesale and Retail, Drygoods, etc.. He was also successful in the Mining business as well. I suppose those Whites are still in those parts. That store did not close up until about 20 years ago. Other Whites went with them as well to different parts of the state. Jasper "Jack" White, the only White brother out of five to survive the Civil War, wnt out to Texas but I can't remember what county. I do remember that he had two sons, Bert and William. I would love to correspond with their descendents! There were some other Whites, cousins of my direct line, that went out to Texas. There were also some Wests and Rakestraws married into that line as well. On my McDowell line there were some Blacks and some Wyatts that married into that line and a bunch of them all went west as well. I will send you my White and McDowell file if you are interested. Perhaps there is something there of interest to you. It is funny you mention the Kings also. Those White brothers that died in The War for Southern Independence were the sons of Hiram and Sarah King White. I know nothing about Sarah King's family though. 3. Hi WHITE seekers of Texas, I am seeking for years the parentage of WILLIAM HENRY WHITE born 1879/80 in COLORADO. Was living in Memphis Tenn in 1920. Have no idea where his prents came from or who they were? Help? Thought maybe they possibly might connect with any Whites who moved west.
