Hello Norma, The Henry White you mentioned that married Frances Barnette was my ancestor, Col. Henry White. I also have her parents as being the John and Marrian Gibbs Barnette that you mentioned. They or at least Marrian were also the grandparents of Agatha Gibbs, the wife of Col. Henry White's son John W. White. Col. Henry White lived in Orange Co., Va., before he and his family migrated to S.C. where he fought in the Rev War. Most of his kids were born in Orange Co., Va. too. In my file I have a Joseph White as his father, the info of which someone was kind enough to share with me. But I am unsure of the father, but my great grandfather Rev. Wm. Henry White wrote that two brothers came from England, one settleing in Va and the other settling in S.C., the latter becoming Col. Henry White of the Rev War there. The whole family probably came in from Penn to Va or straight to Va, but either way Col. Henry White migrated to the Spartanburg area in the 1750s if I am not mistaken. But the info from Col. Henry White down to me is for sure, put together and researched by my grandmother and her cousin in Spartanburg, S.C.. I also show Col. Henry White as also having a daughter named Elizebeth White who was born (acccording to my info) in Orange Co., Va. on 12/23/1762 and died in Robertson Co., Tennessee 11/11/1837. But I have her as married a Mr. Richard James in Spartanburg, S.C. in 1783. Perhaps your Mr. Tomlinson was a 1st husband or something. I will send you my White file that I put together for my immediate family's use. There are also a couple of small articles about Col. Henry White and his Rev War service in it also.
