Hello, Charles C. WHITE I have been searching for my great grandfather's information for quite some time now. I have found his marriage in the indiana marriage index as follows: Index to Marriage Record 1850 - 1920 Inclusive Volume I Letters A to G Inclusive Gibson County, Indiana W. P. A. Original Record Located: County Clerk's Office Princeton Ind. Compiled by Indiana Works Progress Administration 1940 County: Gibson Name: Maggie Barrett Spouse: Charles C White Marriage Date: 20 Apr 1904 Book: 11 Original Source Page: 39 The census info I have is as follows: 1920 Shows Maggie (Barrett) White with the children, listed as married, but without the husband in the household. 1930 Shows Maggie (Barrett) White with the children, listed as a widow. Nobody in the family knows what happened to this man. Apparently he just disappeared. I do know that he was a riverboat captain, and that he was from Celina, Clay county, TN. I just can't find anything on him in TN. Since they were married and his wife and children lived in southern IN, I'm thinking he was probably working on the Ohio River, but that is just an assumption. Does anybody have any idea on how I could go about researching riverboat captains? With this surname being so overpopulated that might be a better angle to work on this. Please respond. Anna
