    3. I am not complaining and I hope the list manager will not be offended by my email to my White cousins.......but, this is not the place for free advertising for any book. I am afraid there are many books like the one you are referring to on ebay now. Many of the authors of these "books" are people who have taken advantage of the "sharing" we do with each other of our own genealogy research. .....Many have compiled it (in no specific order).....just names etc......and are now selling them at the expense of all of us. There are those who look for a way to make $$money$$.....as my White ancestors might say "by hook or by crook!" I guess the last sentence to your email said it all....."Do not bid on this item if you are expecting a full ¿family history.¿" Marsha a Charlotte Co., VA .....White! ----- Original Message ----- From: "A-T-K's Grannie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 5:18 PM Subject: [WHITE] White Family History on ebay > Book ¿ White Family History > > http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2979105862 > This book is made up of White family information that has been extracted > from a number of sources. 3. I appreciate someone taking the time to post something they saw. I collect books that have even a single mention of my family and because I work two jobs, I don't have the time to search myself very often. It would only be advertising if the book was being sold by her. Thank you for letting us know this book is available. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marsha Hamilton To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 5:29 PM Subject: Re: [WHITE] White Family History on ebay I am not complaining and I hope the list manager will not be offended by my email to my White cousins.......but, this is not the place for free advertising for any book. 3. That same seller though also has books with good sources. We as the buyer have to be the careful one. Here is one source, for example: Book ¿ A History of the Carter Family; Hard cover, 443 pp, Edited and published 1972 by American Genealogical Research Institute, Washington D.C; Library of Congress Catalog # 75-187586; The volume is in good condition. 3. Re: Charlotte in VA. It never ceases to amaze me the lengths someone will go to, to voice their complaint. These are the same people who never take the time to attempt to lookup something. I don't know who the list administrator is, but, you can contact them at [email protected] Complaints should be made to them and not on list. I don't think sending a link to one book is called advertising. Furthermore, the query just before this was for help in Vermont research. That is what this book was. I live in SW Georgia and do not have access to any records in Vermont, I simply did a web search for White Genealogy in Vermont....... If we all took 5 minutes to even try to help someone, we might actually accomplish something. If this is not the purpose of this list, then I will happily remove myself. 3. Like others have said to us on the White list, this book is a scam......and so is the seller....If people would take 5 minutes to think before passing along these posted things from ebay.......then these kind of predators could soon be shut down and out of business.... There are many of these people who try and take... $$money$$.. ..from unsuspecting and honest people on ebay.
